Strategies : Aura’s staff has over 15 years of experience working with creatives and nonprofit organizations to implementing plans and reach their goals. This experience and knowledge will help you figure out the best path forward to reach your goals.
Systems : Starting something new is like drinking from a fire hydrant - there is so much to absorb! What systems work best for project management, marketing, client communication, or internal communications? Do you start a 501©3 or should your idea be an LLC? Plus, what paperwork goes along with these various options? How do you get to our next level as a nonprofit or creative business? We know you have lots of questions. We’re here to help. These are just a few of the systems that Aura can assist you with to ensure your idea has the best tools to move forward.
Support : It’s extremely beneficial to have someone who’s been in shoes similar to yours. Starting something new can look feel a blind leap off a cliff, but if you dig deeper, there are entrepreneurs and creatives who have forged paths before you. Look closely, and you will see there is a well-worn path with people to support you on your journey. At Aura have experienced a lot in the world of creatives and nonprofits — the good, the bad and the ugly. We use those experiences to grow, adapt and thrive. Learning from those triumphs and trials has made us want to share those experiences to support others with their business plans, hiring needs and all the other million things creatives and nonprofits need help in making happen.
Meet the Team
Laura Streib, Founder and Owner at Aura
Laura grew up with a life filled with music. She started playing piano in elementary school, added the flute in 5th grade and finally landed on playing the oboe in 7th grade. Music and access to an amazing arts education is where she developed her passion for music and the arts and built community. Some of her life-long friends came from this shared arts experience.
Continuing her music education in college, Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music at Western Washington University and began building her private studio. She moved to Portland in 2004 to work on her graduate degree in Music. Laura founded Vibe after receiving her Masters Degree in Music Performance at Portland State University. While studying in downtown Portland, Laura discovered the need for art and music education within the schools here in the Portland Metro area and founded Vibe of Portland, with it receiving its nonprofit status in 2007.
Since programming began in 2008, Vibe grew to reach over 2,000 kids annually working at 12 schools across Portland and 2 studio sites. Programming included weekly classes at partner schools, studio classes, workshops, camps and East Winds Band Camp at Mt Hood Community College. Laura is the winner of the 2010 Skidmore Prize from the Willamette Week. She wears many hats, most importantly being a mom to her 3 amazing kids who love art and music and help drive Laura’s passion to see that ALL children have access to the arts. In starting Aura Creative, Laura is taking the years of experience with Vibe to inspire creatives and nonprofits to continue to provide creativity to their communities.

ED Confidential Groups
Executive directors have unique challenges — having a space to talk to others who can empathize, brainstorm and problem solve with you can be helpful. We offer a monthly group for EDs to share and work together in a safe, confidential setting. This is a member-based subscription.
